5 Reasons to go to Electric Daisy Carnival

I would write an entry to review my Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) experience, but it would take me days to write. The 3 day dance festival was held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 8-10th. Insomniac Events was the promoter of the festival.

I’ve been to EDC once before in Colorado, but they no longer have it and it only took place in New York and Las Vegas. So, my friends and I decided to road trip out to Vegas along with thousands of other people.

Anyway, to my point. I’ve decided to give a list of reasons to go to EDC to save you hours of reading. These reasons are just based off my opinion, I’m sure others felt different, but EDC created its own experience for everyone.

5. The 6 Stages

One of the best reasons to attend EDC is because of the stages. The venue holds six different stages. Each stage had a different performance going on at all times, which allowed for the variety of EDM music. One stage was all dubstep artists (basspod). Another had mostly house/trance artists (circuit grounds). The main stage (kinetic field) had all the well known and up and coming artists such as Porter Robinson and Bassnectar. There was also the cosmic meadow where you could sit in the grass and there was also the neon garden stage. No matter where you were in the music festival you could go hear something different. You could be enjoying yourself at Armin Van Buuren and leave to go see Adventure Club at another stage. We all love having options and with each stage offered a different experience. The smooth transitioning between the stages and music was wonderful.

4. The Costumes

People get ready weeks in advance for EDC. I know I did. Hours were spent making outfits or finding the right outfit for each day. I saw some of the most outrageous outfits. Take a quick search of EDC on Pinterest and hundreds of pictures and outfits will result. There were girls who barely had duct tape covering their bodies and there were costumes that had daisies carefully added to each garment. Everywhere you looked there were beautiful people and there was always an outfit to admire. For both girls and guys making costumes is one of the best parts of EDC. You can be 98% naked or fully clothed, but at the end of the day no one is going to judge you in a negative light because we all were there to do the same thing.

3. The Entertainers/Entertainment

The globally known DJs were not the only ones providing entertainment for the carnival. As you walk around EDC there are hired performers pretty much every where you go when you aren’t at a stage listening to music. There are cute clowns and circus like activity that is fun and interactive. There are also really cool mini floats that’s go around with performers and you are able to take pictures with them. Each night more fun entertainers were added, which was the best part because I knew I could expect something different each night. It was visually stunning. The art and time that went into the entertainment truly showed.

The daisy carnival also lived up to the name carnival. There were carnival rides of all sorts everywhere. Huge ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds, mini roller coasters, and fun houses that were free for everyone to enjoy (considering the fact that a 3 day pass was $300). The lines weren’t too outrageous and I felt like a kid again. I was at an adult carnival. EDC was an 18+ event ;).

2. The Vibes

I’ve been to many shows, but I didn’t know what to expect with EDC. There are so many people from around the US and other countries that come to the festival that I didn’t know what the vibes would be like.

It needed up being like every other show I’ve been to. There were good vibes every where. Everyone was nice. Everyone was understanding if you accidentally pushed. And pretty much everyone was willing to have a conversation with you if there was a chance. I met several people from Canada. Some from the UK as well, which I thought was so cool. People spent a lot of money to come be around thousands of friendly people. Even when it had to be shut down early on Saturday, the 90,000 people that were estimated to be there made it a good time. They let people stay in the venue if they needed to until 5:30 am. There was some disappointment that it was shut down cause of the wind, but everyone knew there was still another day of festivities. Plus we were in Vegas so it’s not like you couldn’t leave and find something fun to make up for it.

1. The Music

The most important and best reason to attend EDC is because of the artists/producers. They are globally known DJs who have made their mark on EDM world. There are performances you can see at EDC, but probably not anywhere else anytime soon since so many of them tour out of the US. So many amazing artists in one place is a an EDM lovers heaven.

Some of the artists included: Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren, Bassnectar, Zeds Dead, Porter Robinson, ATB, Dash Berlin, Datsik, Kaskade, Knife Party, Dada Life, Adventure Club, Tiesto, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and many more.
