There are only about 5-6 artists that I never miss when they make a stop in Colorado. Dada Life is one of them. I fell in love with Dada Life back at Global Dance Festival in 2011. Their set on top of Red Rocks was a giant party and the vibes were amazing.
The only stop that Dada Life made in Colorado was to the Boulder Theater. I couldn’t miss this, plus I had never been to the Boulder Theater before. I would’ve liked to see them make their way down to the Ogden, but I had to take what I could get. I’ve never been disappointed by Dada Life. Their music is fun, creative, different, and sometimes it makes no sense, but no matter what you want to jump up and down and feel the excitement they do.
The Boulder Theater isn’t a huge venue, which I was fond of because it makes the experience seem much more personal. They were debuting their new live show that even had visuals. As you can see in the picture below their blow up set spelled out “DADA LIFE”. Check out this review for more photos.
I was front row for this show. I felt so close to them. I wore my rolling stone t-shirt in honor of their hit “Rolling Stone T-Shirt“. There isn’t anything bad to say about their set. They played everyones favorites and the screen behind them had fun visuals and even displayed some of the lyrics to their songs. I couldn’t take my eyes of them. They are so much fun to watch and to see how much they love getting wild and interactive with the crowd is amazing. It was hot sweaty, full of dancing, champagne, and bananas. It felt as if every person in the crowd knew every word to every song.
I left this show looking like a different person. “Arrive Beautiful Leave Ugly” from their new album Dada Land definitely describes how everyone felt after the show. This was a great warmup and build to the release of Dada Land about a month and a half later. I can’t wait to see what Dada has in store for us the this next year. This was a small show with big expectations. Expectations that Dada Life exceeded.
