January 18th Crizzly sold out Beta Nightclub. This was one of the nights I had been anticipating most since Kill the Noise. I’ve previously written about Crizzly when he played at Global in July and opened for Paper Diamond back in September, but I wanted to write again since this show was all about him. Along side him for the night was AFK who is also under Warpath Group management. AFK was on before Crizzly. This was the first time I’d seen AFK and I was thoroughly impressed. I didn’t know much about AFK and that the two and Protohype were under the same management and once I found out I could see why. His sound flows right along with Crizzly’s, but he provided a heavy dub set that had the crowd warming up for what was to come. He threw ‘On the Floor VIP‘, ‘Shake That‘, ‘Go Home‘, and Protohype and Carnage’s ‘All Gold Everything‘ remix in his set. His set was a great warm up to the rowdy set Crizzly was about to throw down. I would love to see AFK again. Make sure to check out his soundcloud to listen to songs and previews.
Crizzly’s set started at 12:45. I’ve seen a crowd at Beta excited for an artist, but this being Crizzly’s first time at the venue made it even more exciting. He has impressed me the past two times I’ve seen him, but its safe to say that this by far is the best set I’ve seen from him. Playing at Beta for the first time always seems to make an artist perform to the best of their abilities. His set was filled with dirty non stop dubstep/crunkstep style he is known for. His ‘Go Hard‘, ‘Like Dat‘, and Protohype and Kezwiks ‘Problematic‘ were some of the rowdiest moments of the night. (I wrote about Protohype here. Make sure to check it out to get information on his music and soundcloud). Crizzly created one of the sweatiest raging crowds I’ve been in at Beta. He saved the best for last closing his set out with ‘Chain Hang Low‘, ‘Way We Ball‘, and his newest release ‘1 2 Cake Cake (feat. Steve Aoki)‘. This is the show that Crizzly was needing. I feel as if a lot more people love his music and him after Friday night. So many artists love Denver and it is clear that he loved the crowd.
Don’t miss your chance to see Crizzly at Snowball Music Festival in March where he will be performing with special guest Lil Flip. Tickets are on sale now! His sets are so much fun and worth getting a little sweaty for!
